Thanks Melony, I like the sandpaper idea though I'm not sure where to put it exactly - I'll work something out.

I took my rabbit to the vet today and he prescribed Frontline, one drop per ear to be repeated weekly until cleared up. Apparently there is not much in Australia approved for use in rabbits but this is.

He also clipped his toenails while I held him. It was a stressful time for us both but since we've been home and I've done the Frontline treatment (which wasn't appreciated I can tell you!) he has not scratched his ears once!
