Subject: re wild rabbit care USA,UK,Australia etc

Hi,

For anyone looking for care of wild rabbits in the
USA including the care of baby wild rabbits where
the mother has been killled, please go to
<a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.rabbit.org">http://www.rabbit.org</a>

That address is the House Rabbit Society in the USA
and they have links to carers for wild rabbits in the
USA. If you are in the USA and you find a nest of wild
bunnies, leave them alone unless you are certain the mother
is dead since she will come back to feed them.

If you find abandoned wild rabbits in the UK, contact
the British Rabbit Welfare Association
<a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.rabbitwelfare.co.uk">http://www.rabbitwelfare.co.uk</a>

In Australia people are not supposed to keep wild rabbits
as pets but if you find a sick or abandoned wild baby or adult rabbit it is up to you what you do with it. If it is sick, take the rabbit to the vet. If the rabbit is terminally ill eg Myxo, the vet will more than likely humanely euthanase the rabbit. If a baby rabbit is only lost or abandoned, they can be fed the same food as a normal pet rabbit and some become tame and can be kept as pets (keep in mind that technically this is illegal). Some wild rabbits in Australia resemble the Agouti colour in domestic rabbits (there is little difference) so you can always say this is an Agouti coloured pet rabbit that just happens to look like a wild rabbit (who is to say it isn't?).

Don't feed any rabbits iceberg lettuce (the cheap round
type of lettuce) as this can cause diarrhea and ultimately
death.

Hope this helps,

M.
