Rabbits need a lot of space to run and jump and should have a few hours of free run per day if you can. They will probably be more active in the morning and evening as that is their natural feed time. As for the guinea pig, I've heard of bunnies bonding with cats and dogs and being quite happy, but I do think you need two buns to really appreciate how socially interactive they are. There's nothing quite like two buns in love.
