Hi,
The rabbit water bottles should always be checked to
make sure the ball has not stuck in the pipe. Sometimes
the bottle needs a good whack or shake it if the ball sticks. Also, in very hot weather, provide a dish of water as well. Avoid iceberg lettuce (too much of this can cause
diarrhea and can cause fatalitied in rabbits). The more
expensive leaf lettuces are apparently ok for rabbits.
Try some carrot (grated if bunny is recovering) and some
apple (pips removed) and broccoli leaves. Keep bunny out
of the heat (bring her indoors if it is hot). Bunnies cannot perspire and can die of heat stroke if it gets too
hot. It sounds like she is improving well. You could see the
vet or the chemist and add a small amount of rehydrating
material to her water (I have forgotten the name but it is
for animals and babies and similar to a weak sports drink
in replacing body salts etc). I hope she recovers as
dehydration, especially in hot weather can be fatal.
Also, watch her back legs as this could also be a sign
she has hurt her back and she may need to see a vet or
else at least keep her contained in an enclosed area
(where it is cool) while she recovers.
Kind regards,
Marguerite
