It's not recommended that buns be bathed as it's very stressful for them. There are times that their back ends may need a clean up and for that I usually just hold them under warm running water (just their bottoms).

If you must bath the bun make sure they're not sick and make sure they're thouroughly dried. The last is really important. The few times I've washed the buns I've used a hair dryer on a warm (not hot)low speed setting. Be prepared to spend up to an hour drying them, depending on their fur type. If he's not dried properly you run a very real chance of him catching cold or worse. I've seen countless posts where people want to know why their bun has died when all they did was bath them. It's not the bath, but the fact that they left the bun to dry out by themselves, thinking sitting in the sun is enough. It's not.

If you're thinking of cooling the bun down, the best ways I've found are to put some frozen plastic bottle down for them, or dampen your hand and wipe down their ears. In really hot weather I do both, but the water bottles work wonderfully well.
