Writer’s Workshop

To properly interpret a dream, all the details would have be remembered, properly related, and the reality information that surrounded the dreamer should be considered. I had noticed that many dream symbols identified themselves. The 1978 book dream had intrigued me, while the 1979 haunting house dream had many interesting symbols.

In 1979 I joined a writer’s workshop. One member was an editor for a small magazine. When I read the “Haunting House” dream, the editor said that there was no such thing as a haunting house. My word choice was inappropriate. Therefore, the dream was immediately noticed as unusual. The dream dwelling had identified itself as “The Haunting House”. At the end of the dream two men appeared, and they, too, were given an identity as “Garment Thieves”.

Six years after the “Haunting House” dream, I met both men that had appeared in the dream. Prior to the meeting several things had taken place: 1) my husband had a 1977 gall bladder surgery where an infection was noticed and left untreated. 2) Hubby’s infection settled into a noticeable neck tumor, and later into his 1983 fourth-stage Hodgkin’s disease. 3) Hubby’s father died in 1984. 4) The month prior to our 1985 house burgery, hubby was pulled over and arrested for drunken driving. Hubby asked me to go to the State Police Barracks to get his knife so that he wouldn’t be charged for a concealed weapon, too!

I had noticed that once a person was charged with drunken driving, the state police (who wear a white shirt and navy pants) had what appeared as “double bookkeeping records” in order to make the charge stick.

Hubby insisted that the police would finger print his knife and he would be charged with two crimes. He claimed to be innocent of both wrong doings. So, I agreed to retrieve hubby’s pocketknife, which was a little larger than normal. After I returned home with the knife, hubby then said that he was guilty!

“Guilty,” I screamed! I was as irate with Hubby, as I was with the Evil Michigan doctors who were withholding antitumor/antiviral antibiotics!

Hubby explained that it was too expensive to argue with the lawmakers and policing agencies. He would plea guilt to the drunk driving. It was difficult to conceal it from the children. After graduating from “Drunk School”, Hubby was given a party and known as the daddy that wasn’t a Drunk; he only got arrested for it.

The day after the November 7, 1985 meeting with the second garment thief, I received a speeding ticket and then a second speeding ticket a week or so later.
