Dear Social Memory Class,

First of all, may the next few days go smoothly and I hope you all will feel happy and satisfied when your Hons theses are finally at the binders! Well done!

Now you can get some sleep and rediscover life after thesis (yes, there is one)....

This is chiefly to inform you that yesterday afternoon I had news from Geraldene Lowe that she suddenly has a schedule problem with Saturday, March 30 (the proposed date of our class outing). She has a conference group that she is looking after and guiding in the four days running up to that, and they suddenly delayed their programme by a day which means they want her on Saturday. She asks if we could possibly shift our trip to the following Saturday, April 6? I am hoping this will still be all right for all of you - I think it would be well worth having her along if possible, she is such a great storyteller and knows all the gossip that the official guides won't tell you! I'd be glad if you could all let me know if you COULDN'T make it on 6th. Otherwise, can I assume that will be all right with everyone?

She is arranging a bus for us, and we'll be starting out from the Phoenix Hotel (just around the back of the Specialists' Centre on Orchard Road - conveniently near the Somerset MRT Station) at 9am sharp. PLEASE COME AT 8.45am so we can start promptly, or we won't fit everything in to our schedule! Starting from there rather than NUS will save us quite a bit of time since our first stop will be out at the Changi Museum. Refreshments at Changi Village and then, I hope, we'll have time to stop briefly at the Japanese Cemetery before continuing on to Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall (as the Villa is now called). We should be finished by 1 pm or 1.30 pm.
I will give the details in class for anyone who may not read this.

In the meantime, just wanted also to apologize for the fact that this week's film was longer than I had thought - the LINC said it was 55 mins, but then on the box I find it says 90 mins! I didn't mean our class to go over time so badly. Apologies for the poor organisation and sorry if that inconvenienced anybody.

I look forward to seeing (ALL OF!) you next week, looking refreshed.........

Roxana
