Subject: I'll start with one of my older poems - "The Significance of This"

The Significance of This

Refresh my memory, please
It seems a little unclear as to why
This shouldn’t have happened.
“Simply because,”
Was all he could say
With his sweet little laugh.
How that laugh turned so bitter
From his mouth to my ears
And down to my heart.
Rehearsed too many times
Through my thoughts, chewing on it
Like a stale piece of bread;
I couldn’t quite grasp
How it could be so tangible –
So irresistible
In my view,
And yet so suddenly abstract
And wrong in his.
The time slowly fades and I’m not sure
What was real
And what is just my imagination,
My desire – what I really wanted.
I’m trying to understand
The significance of all this,
The life-lesson to be learned.
All I see is the significance
Of one person,
Loving,
And one person,
Leaving.
