Subject: Fowkes

Looking for any information on the Fowkes family - Leicester 1901. In the census at 18 Watling Street, Annie is shown but her husband is not. There are two sons and a daughter, Walter, Joseph and Ethel. I found a FreeBMD reference to Ethel Fowkes b. 1891 but when I received the certificate her mother's name was given as 'Mary'.
Father's name was George - does anyone know if George married again - can't find a marriage of George Fowkes to Annie nor a death record of Mary. If this family rings any bells I'd like to hear from you. Family lore says that George was a policeman.
