Hello,
I am trying to locate Henry Hendry who would be my G-G-Grandfather. I have
very little information on that line. I will give you what information I do have to
see if perhaps there is a connection to your Hendry. I do not have his wife's name
altho my G-Grandmother, his daughter was named Isabal/Isabella/Bell. Some of
his sons names were Samuel, James, David. As I understand from the letter that
Samuel had written his Mother and Father, he was asking for " for a hook, not too
crooked nor too stright just of common sise" so I presume that the boys (?) men
were shepards as they were to shear in 3 weeks time. The letter was written on
July 31st 1806 from a place called Mounktown Hill.
Family says that Isabella was born in Newton Stewart, her birth date was
17 August 1796. I do have a tax receipt that he duly registered his Freehold
______ lying and being at or in Belly_epson Barony of Antrim. Dated the
17 day oof October 1789.
I believe he had land in Ireland perhaps before he was in Scotland, I really do
not know.
On the back of the Bible it says Mr. Henry Hendry, Newton Stewart, Gallaway.
Does this name happen to belong to your family?
Isabella married Andrew Monteith in Penninghame Parish, Wigtownshire,
Scotland.

Any help you could give me would be very much appreciated. Would the names
Hendry and Henry both be used.
