Subject: Spratt families in Northern Ireland

Looking for info on Spratt families in Ireland/Canada who might be related. My gr, gr grandfather, Andrew Spratt (b.1807), apparently came from Belfast, Antrim Co, Ireland to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in 1827. (Ottawa was then called Bytown, and he settled in Carleton Co, in Gloucester Township). His two brothers, James (b.1804), and John (b.1820), also came to settle in Canada around the same time. They settled near brother Andrew in Gloucester Twp. Both Andrew and James Spratt may have been officers in the British army, and all men were Presbyterian.

Andrew Spratt married Catherine Ellen Freeman, also of Ireland. He died in 1890. James Spratt married Jane Fohender of Ireland. He died around 1892. John Spratt married Margaret Lee, who was born in Upper Canada (now, Ontario). (John Spratt was apparently born in King's Co, Ireland). Andrew and James Spratt apparently came and worked on the building of the Rideau Canal, an undertaking of the British government at the time, which was to be a water route that could be used to protect the British colony in North America from American invasion.

The mother's name of these three Spratt brothers may have been Jane, and as far as I know, she died in Ireland. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with any info on this family.
