It was a hot Saturday afternoon. Even with the air-condition on high, I can still feel the heat from the blazing afternoon sun. Suddenly the phone rang, it started 'playing' Beethoven's "9 Symphony" (kuai le sung). I frowned. The high pitched ring tone never fails to irritate me. Father answered the mobile, speaking loudly while lowering the volume of the radio, as he always does. "... gate number 7? Ok." I froze at the mention of "Gate number 7". My heart started to race. I could feel the butterflies fluttering at the pit of my stomach. My mind went back in time, back to 3rd of April 2002.
Gate number 7, is the arrival gate at the airport for international flights. Number 7... number 7... WeiWei's lucky number. Gate number 7, the gate which WeiWei exited from the airport on 3rd of April 2002.
We were on our way to the airport to pick up Mother, who was arriving at gate number 7.
I looked out of the window at the passing lamp posts. I felt as if I was back in the bus, but the feeling was no longer the same. It was the feeling of anticipation and excitement on that day, this time, all that was left was the memories.
I was still caught up in my thoughts when the car stopped. I stared transfixed at the gate, and at the number. I slowly got out of the car, still staring. I saw WeiWei walking out of the gate with the fans around her, I saw her getting into that black Benz, waving... It was like watching a movie, a movie which was replayed a thousand times in my mind. I found it hard to breathe, my heart was beating fast, my eyes were misty and I had to hold onto the car for support, while all the while, trying real hard to hide all these from my family. (luckily, they didn't notice anything! phew! haha) WeiWei, I miss you so much...
More than a week later, I was back at the same terminal, arriving from Beijing after a not-so-happy holiday trip (some of you would know why). When I realised where I was walking, my heart skipped a beat. I walked the same route WeiWei did. The same double doors, same cafe, same waiting area, and the same gate number 7. A heart warming coincidence. I could still see WeiWei walking in front of me, surrounded by eager fans... I couldn't help but smile to myself. A great coincidence indeed. WeiWei, I miss you...
Wish my angel and my friends here (you guys are more like my family) a good day everyday, good mood, good luck with everything, and good health. Take Care.
O, and don't worry, I'm still doing well in my studies, in fact, I'm gonna start working soon, very soon! @_@ haha... I'll continue my effort of working harder! ... and i'm not crazy! hehe
