Subject: What A Difference A Day Makes

Among my pets, I have one cat and two birds.

Of the birds, one is a parakeet (named Mac) that I've had for about 4 years. The other is a Green Cheek Conure (named Bo) that's 14 years old (which I got directly from a breeder at about 6 weeks old).

The parakeet is obviously male, indicated by the blueness above his beak, around his nostrils. (Female parakeets are brown there.)

I never had the Conure tested, so there's always been ambiguity regarding Bo's gender, but I've considered him male all this time.

I do that with most animals - when in doubt, I refer to it as being male. I did that with a pet bunny I had a few years back, then learned upon its death that it was female. I even assumed my cat was male until I was informed otherwise shortly after I bought her.

Anyway...

As of today, it's been confirmed that Bo is actually female. Here's photographic evidence.

And of all the days for this to happen - on Easter. Wild.

After 14 years of thinking otherwise, it's going to be difficult to start referring to Bo as female.
