They had a square dance one evening at the elem school. I groaned and thought, "oh jeez" but we went anyway. The caller was awesome, lots of families came out, and it was one of the best nights. We laughed and danced - folks who had no idea what they were doing were made to feel comfortable. What a surprise the evening turned out to be.

There's an interesting history to the Ring Around the Rosie chant. If I had an entirely functioning brain, I'd relate it. It has something to do with roseola, I think, the skin rash. Like most children's jingles and nursery rhymes, it's actually quite gruesome. Thank goodness for Sesame Street and Disney. I miss Sesame Street. Maria and Gabi and Luis. Sheesh, I wonder if Gabi is a teenager yet? She must be! And Big Bird... he must be ten by now! I guess I'll get to do it all again when I'm a grandma.
