I talk to myself to alleviate the pressure.

I listen appreciately to the roar of the crowd as the announcer calls my name.

I hold the barrel of the bat tightly.

I hide the pinetar, remembering George Brett.

I walk to the plate, avoiding eye contact with the pitcher.

I drive the first pitch to deep right field.

I burn around the basepaths, knowing I have a chance to score the winning run.

I breathe hard as I round second.

I play shortstop, but this seems like an odd place to insert that detail.

I miss third base completely and am tagged out.

I wink at the cute girl in the third row.
