I had to find a pain specialist, had way too many doctors wanting to fix me with a knife, went through about 3 in a row and decided to call it quits for a while. I got tired of regular MD's giving me about 30 darvocet and a lecture about addiction. A pain specialist knows the difference between addiction and physical dependancy and will help you taper if they change meds on you. I learned the hard way what withdrawls are cuz most doctors don't want to take the time to explain it. In fact my PA for my high blood pressure said her patients weren't inteligent enough to understand it, not in those exact same words but pretty close. I was too sick with the flu when I talked to her about that to glare at her too hard. I don't care if I'm dependent on medication, I couldn't get out of bed in the morning without it or sleep at night with this Cr## and the other stuff I have. I get worked up about lack of pain control can ya tell???lol
I had that sternum stuff, there is a name for it, but can't come up with it right now, in my 20's they just gave me massive doses of ibuprophen, clear back when it was a prescription drug. I've read where it is pretty common to people with FM, aren't we lucky. I thought I was having heart attack it hurt so bad when the sternum thing was going full blast. It "should" settle down when it's done torturing you, I Hope. In the meantime wish you had a doc that would help you better, chronic pain leads to deppresion in my opinion. errrr I'd better stop while I can :))
God bless,
Fran
