I keep seeing the same argument. That Britain culture Ireland, broguht her out of the Dark ages, etc.

NO! Britain KEPT Ireland in the dark ages. The potatoe famine, failed uprisings, protestant supplantation, etc. all crippled Ireland and still have negative reprecussions on the country today.

Britain didn't want to culture Ireland. She wanted to kill off the Irish landowners and replace them with her own. Ireland was economically and financially kept under the boot of British opression, exploited and broken, all for the greater glory of Britain.
