Subject: Test!

When in sleeping the moon did manage to appear, the light made pillars between the clouds to hold up the laden sky, and white light blazed at their dark edges, warring for purchase to see the reflection of its own lunar face. The black concrete and brick took on the light and glowed at shuttered windows, seeping about the edges to slant into the darkness in defiance of the modern world. The smooth asphalt's pockmarked surface shown blue with the reflected light; they became rivers with pothole eddies and yellow-ribboned waterfalls, rushing between the island skyscrapers and pooling in the shadows beyond the light.
The clouds passed and the dappled light played sinister patterns and beautiful pictures over the raw angles and planes, slipping every now-and-then over a billboard or a sign, where dim color like drops of rainbow blood gazed up at heaven and at nothing for a moment, tiny miracles without heed. The cold sky seemed open to all that was above the very boundaries of life, the tiny starlights seemed distant and without time.
Long ago the shadows of the broken metal and glass at the windows had moved across the sullen floors, stretched and distorted as they reached for the invisible horizon before departing high upon the ceiling as the light faded without sunset and the worlds' lamps remained unlit. Beyond the doorways without their doors, the gapping passageways were curtained with shadow. The shadows made them endless, and the shadows devoured it, reaching toward the fallow rooms beyond and shrinking from the faint light at the many broken windows, filtering through in hazy dimness though the full poison of the dark must lurk behind. But the shadows were motionless and cold, they did not live and never had. The night at the windows surround the empty world, and parted it from the present in a still wall of desolation, stopping at the windows in courteous exception, watching with featureless faces their immortal play within. No life within, no life without, save one. But not alone.
