We haven't met but then again we have. We don't know each other but then again we do. We met and know each other in the depths of despair that only parents of suicided children understand. My daughter committed suicide in September 1996, she was 26 years old.

"The National Organization for People of Color against Suicide is conducting
four meetings in the next 12 months with each major minority group to help better understand what is being done and what is not being done for suicide
prevention and intervention. We will begin with American Indians. This meeting is being sponsored by the Suicide Prevention Resource Center in an effect to help the majority population to be able to work more efficiently
with minority populations.

For those of you who can make the meeting…we will be sending you a copy of a report written last year from our first meeting to establish strategies to
engage minority populations in suicide preventive intervention programs. We will also send you a copy of the agenda. Your name has been chosen because
you are either a researcher, direct service administrator, community leader or benefactor of intervention services. If you do not fall into either of
the categories, please disregard this email. This is a closed meeting by invitation only. We are hoping to bring everyone in on Sunday evening, meet
all day on Monday and a half day on Tuesday. Please tell me which dates are good for you by responding to this email and choosing either all three, two or one of the dates. We will choose the Monday and Tuesday that the majority of you pick. For instance if the majority of you can come in on
the 9th and 10th of August, then that is when the meeting will be held.

The available dates for the meeting are as follows:

Monday and Tuesday – August 9 and 10
Monday and Tuesday – August 16 and 17
Monday and Tuesday - August 23 and 24

At the end of the meeting a report will be written. You will choose what
should go into the report, and the title of the report."
