Subject: Just 1 second of your time, PLEASE!! I'm pulling my hair out, here!

I am doing an edging on my cardigan, and one row has the instructions, [(k1, yo, k1)in next st.] What the heck does this mean, and how do I DO IT? When I k1, yo, k1 in the regular way, at the end of the row I am short 2 sts. So obviously I am doing something wrong. Does it involve turning the work around in the middle of the row and knitting the yo I just made?
Thank you so much for anyone that can help!
