This is the dock. A few small ships are anchored, though most have gone fishing with the luck of blue skies and a wonderful breeze. A few dolphins slip through the water, as far out to sea as your eyes can gaze. Nearby, a dolphin bell needs only to be rung in the Report sequence to request their company.

The girl wanders absently towards the dock edge. Oh how much she wants to be a dolphineer.She squates down and reaches out to the dolphins.
" I wonder what it is like to swim with the dolphins. To be a Dolphineer?"She asks herself.She is slightly jumpy.

Aranye grins and walks onto the floating platform next to the Dock. She sits on the side facing the Dock, legs dangling into the water. "Sit on the Dock, please, facing me." She nods to Lorli, who Zira and Khev had gotten. Then she scratches the area around the dolphin's blowhole- a place which all the apprentices should now know. Lorli coons her joy at that, then waits with Aranye for the rest of the apprentices to arrive.

The bronze dragon glides down to land just outside of the water, letting J'dan half-leap half-step off, before plunging into the water himself, eyes whirling lightly. J'dan covered a smile, but didn't say anything. Tali the dolphin, had actually come to see Allin again, but then she spotted the Dragon, and the first thought in her mind was 'game' - naturally. So Tali swam up to Zephyth and stood on her tail as she focused on eye on him. "'lo." She said to him happily. J'dan, shaking his head, headed into the Training Hall...

Aranye nods. "Good. And remember to sleep, Roger!" she calls as they begin to leave. Then, using her arms to push herself out of the water, Aranye sits herself on the edge of the Dock. "Good day, eh Lorli?"

"Yes! V'ry-" Rising into the tail-walk position, Lorli bobs her head empathatically.

"Very."

"Very good day!" As happy as she is, Lorli forgets to get annoyed at her human partner for correcting her speech. Unlike most dolphins, Lorli isn't fond of Ara's corrections. "Tali, Sina, L'ra, S'ra, an' Ama all partnered! Yes, a very good day!"

Ara nods in agreement, a smile never leaving her face. Then she jumps into a standing position. "OI! ALL OF YOU!" she shouts. Her projection and the fact that the sound is being carried over water make the words easily heard. "WE'RE GOING IN NOW! IT'S ALMOST DARK, AND YOU ALL SHOULD BE TIRED! WE GOING TO HAVE LESSONS TOMORROW, BRIGHT AND EARLY!"

To the dolphins, Lorli conveys a message of her own. 'The humans need to go in, and we need to go back to the pod. So escort your partners in, then either get, or wait for me,' is basically what it translates to.

Dweia, who was wandering about right now, saw the empty dock up ahead of her (*pretending it's empty even if it's not*) and she slowly walked up to it, sitting down cross-legged and staring out at the waters streatching in front of her as a breeze sprung up to play and swirl through her chin length brown-blond hair. Gray-green eyes didn't change as she watched the water, although she smiled slightly as her hair was swirled in front of her face, momentarily blocking her view of the sea.

A young boy all of twelve huddles his way onto the dock, a shimmery green flit perched atop his shoulder. -- Roger & Meta, 23:49:06 01/20/02 Sun
"Hello?" He calls out almost hesitantly, looking at all the people and dolphins who seemed so happy. When his sister's flit had found him wandering near the Dolphin Hall, she had recognized him and began flashing mind pictures excitedly. Eager, the boy had followed the green to the docks, but now stood uncertainly. Could he ever have a dolphin for a friend?

Scanning the water, he spies his sister frolicking with two dolphin calves and smiles to himself, reluctant to call out. Content to sit on the edge of the dock, he waits for someone to noticehim. Meta, disappointed in his lack of enthusiasm, rings out a call for any attention anyone could give. "Oh, now, don't be doin' that. Please, don't want trouble. Found her, but who're we supposed to talk to?" He mutters to the flit, placing a hand along her back and looking about worriedly.

Ama slows before she reaches the Dock, seeing that the sun has not yet touched the edge of the waters. She glides into the Dock's inlet, clicking in greeting to Lorli, Ara, the twins, Qin, and the three new apprentices. "Marsua? We needs go tell Lorli. An' Ara!"

{I'm going to pretend the rest of you all are here right now, so poor El can see the dolphins.} -- Aranye and {part of} the pod, 02:44:01 01/05/02 Sat
Aranye nods, listening to the bell tones with a practiced ear. "Exactly right," she congratulates Aliena. And then comes the response to the dolphin's bell. Dolphins! Even from as far away as she is, Aranye can make out which dolphins had come. Lorli, of course. The pinkish one is Sina, and the small one her calf. The spots are Tali's give-away. The twins and their parents were also comming, and were closer than the rest.

Lorli manages to arrive first, just ahead of the twin's family. "Lots pod come today." Eyeing the apprentices she adds, "Lots 'prentices 'ere as 'ell." The others have now arrived, Atan and Sina comming in last. As she introduces each dolphin to the new apprentices, the mentioned one squees or clicks in greeting. "Twins L'ra, S'ra. S'ra 's pink-grey spots. Mother Ama, mate Taal. Sina, Atan, Tali," she introduces the ones who have visited recently. Tali, Lorli had added on an earlier visit, had been quite eager for a trip to visit the apprentices. She had always listened with an ear for the bell.

Tali immedietly spots Allin, and never, for once during the introduction, took her eyes off him. Excitement is the only emotion showing. With a flip, quickly and easily covers the distance between them. "Al-lin!" she aquees happily, blowing water at him. Balancing on her tail, she gains height and looks him right in the eye. "Oo be my partner?" she asks hopefully, staying in her heightened position. She claps her fins together, producing a odd slapping sound.

Atan, encouraged by Tali's words, moves his way over to Rusu. "Sina say Atan can choose 'artner now, if'n he's sure.� He cast a glance back at his mother. Sina nods encourageingly. �I is sure! Roos- Rusu,� he corrects himself, taking careful pains in the pronounciation of Rusuki�s nickname. �-Be Atan's partner now, 'ight? P'ease?" He attempts to copy Tali's tail walk, but doesn't -quite- make it. He falls back into the water with a splash, ever keeping his eyes on Rusuki.

Sina, after watching her son and Rusuki for a bit, lazily cuts through the water. She cocks her head, looking up at Aliena. �All turnz out well in th�end,� she says wisely, black eyes flickering to Rusu and Atan. �Oo swim with me, far now, Alieh- Ali?� Like most dolphins, she gives �her� human a nickname, one that is easier for her to pronounce. She pushes herself out of the water and touches her nose to Aliena�s, a sign of friendship.

Aranye watches the three pairs, looking on happily as two partnerships are made, and one friendship grounds itself for a later bond. She grins, this being one of the most miraculaous moments of her life. �Dolphins and humans are together again!� she whispers gleefully, jumping into the water next to Lorli. �It is a good day, today is!�

��Tis!� Lorli agrees, she herself watching avidly. �Good thing, dolphins and humans together. Like in Ancient days. Like Tillek wanted. Like Tillek says should be. An� like I think should be.� Then she spins, swimming swiftly over to Ama, L�ra, and S�ra. Ama, always the shy one, is hanging back. And the twins always followed her or her mate�s example. Since Taal wasn�t around, they stay back with Ama. �Meet Quin? Kin?� she urges them, though she does not quite remember Qinerva�s nickname. Then she draws Ama away, to talk.

After a moment, the mother approaches Marsua. �I is Ama�� she says softly, voice only loud enough to reach Marsua�s ears. �L�ra, S�ra, my an� Taal�s calfs,� she announces with pride.

The twins move together to meet Qin. �We twins,� the introduce themselves, speaking in unison. �I S�ra, she L�ra,� S�ra says, as L�ra nods. �Who oo?� L�ra asks, gazing quizzically at the human.

The blue does not land, but hovers. His wings beat in small movements, barely an inch from the water at their lowest point. Mirth leans his neck down, careful not to get the females' feet soaked. His passengers now have only a small step outwards and downwards to take to get onto the Docks. *Show off,* Ary mutters, staying in her seat.

~Don't blame me!~ Mirth chuckles heartily. ~Thank them for a nice ride, and I enjoyed it.~

Ary shrugs. *No matter,* Mirth relays to Kyl'r from Ary. *And tell Rusuki that I thank her,* he adds, preening slightly.

"Mirth says thanks," Ary informs Rusuki. She turns her attention to the second passenger. "You're welcome, Aliena." The bluerider nods to Aranye, and, since she could take no more passengers, tells Mirth to take them to Lemos. "We're going now," she warns Aliena and Rusuki. *Go, and tell Kyl'r and Kylanth we'll see them there.* Mirth springs into the air, and, after relaying Ary's message, takes them between.

"You're Allin, right?" he asks the boy behind him. "I'm T'ren, and this," he slaps the bronze's hide affectionetly, "Is Jeneth." He leans out, so that he can extend a hand for Allin to shake.

Aranye, catching the gesture in her direction, walks swiftly over to Thaya. "I'm Aranye," she greets the female politely. "The rest of us are about to go to a Banquet at Lemos. Would you like to come?" She adds to Allin: "The dolphins aren't going to come- Khev told them that we're going, so they'll come when we ring, after we get back." At that moment, the bronze returns from across the sea, and perches on Aranye's forearm.
