Subject: "Angeles, Slide Mtn In Service"

Those words were spoken for the first time in 23 years up @ Slide Mtn Lookout on Oct 4th around 12:30 PM.
Dan O'Conner, Slide Mtn lookout for the 1975 fire season went in service amidst 22 guest. The reply from Angeles was drowned out by the cheers and screams of the guest up @ the lookout and down on the shores of Pyramid Lake. It was a beatiful day and the culmination of over a year and a half of planning and hard work.
Special thanks go out to Cid Morgan- District Ranger, Mike McIntyre- our liaison with the ANF, Jonathon Schultz and Dave Ewbank of the San Gabriel River Rangers for packing up over 300 #s of supplies for the festivities, San Gabriel Valley Urban Search & Rescue communications team for their support, Dan O'Conner for the great surprise of being there and especially to the members of ANFFLA that spent many hard days and nights working on restoring the lookout.
I would also like to thank their familes for their support in this project.

You have my heart felt thanks and appreciation on a job well done.

If you are new to the program and would like more info on volunteering please contact Pam Morey.

If you are a member and would like to schedule shifts up @ Slide, please let me know.

Thanks again!

See you up on the Mountain,

Chuck McFate
