Subject: Restoration, Relocation, and Volunteer Management Questions

A tower is being liquidated by the state up here in New England.
I am researching the possibilities of relocating and restoring the tower on high ground overlooking our region's conservation lands.
I also must admit that our volunteer conservation non profit has never done anything quite like this.

It is a 68' steel tower, and while all of the structural parts are in tact and sound the cab was removed.

Does anyone have any experience or leads on how one transports such an animal?

Does anyone have expereince with rebuilding a cab on a steel tower?

Does anyone know of a nonprofit that owns a tower, and thus wrestles with insuring the tower for volunteer work and use?

Does anyone have any leads on the organizational and technical logistics of such an enterprise?

We need to do our homework before making any moves, and I am looking for contacs and advice. ANFFLA looks like a really solid group with some track record in this area. I deeply appreciate any and all help folks can throw our way.

Sincerely,

Colin Novick
