Name: Jase [Matriarch]
Gender: female
Age: mature adult
Description: A massively huge female standing at the full Kathan height of 8ft at the shoulder, Jase is a powerful, broad-backed crett with a deep chest and powerful shoulders on all accounts. Ragged forest green fur falls across her body in an unkempt manner, growing darker at the tail and mane for an almost blackish green tone. Her hooves are a deep ebon coloration, likewise her powerful ramhorms, the left slightly bent from a break in battle and an awkward regrowth. She wears gold hoop earrings and an onyx necklace.
Personality: Calm, and generally quiet and contemplative. Intelligence is displayed always... and anger, when it does come, is always justifiable... and generally swiftly dealt.. either through powerful and meaningful force, or words that hurt worse then physical blows. She is a fair Matriarch, and a reasonably good leader... though she has sworn to find the rest of her pride, or die trying.... she blames their predicament entirely on her own shoulders... thus, can be a bit distant at times.

Name: Otonan
Gender: male
Age: young adult
Description: The chocolate-hued Otonan stands at a fair 7 feet, his fur a mottled mix shades of said brown, somewhat rough, and protective looking. His mane and tail however, are longer then most of his breed, and are well maintanied for a silky look, despite the lengthy tail spikes that protrude from within the mass of fur. A long tan colored blaze runs down his equine muzzle, splaying at the end as if to emphasize the jutting saber fangs. His hooves, horns, and spikes are silver, and his bright eyes are a pale blue. He wears a simple stud in one ear, and a necklace displaying a claw of a Derrva his browns brought down once while hunting.
Personality: Otonan is almost as quiet as Matriarch, but has a funloving side that will come out among friends... most notably the black Lifowa. He has a love of hunting, and has perfected such to what he considers the Deadly Art.. however, the brown has a very deep respect for life. And his honour codes are strict.

Name: Degeh
Gender: male
Age: mature adolescent
Description: A grey, Degeh is heavily muscled but somewhat short at 6' at the shoulder. His fur is iron grey but dappled along his flanks and spine, and a tad lighter on the underbelly. His mane is cropped very short, crewcut actually, and is a mere bristle of fur running from between his ears to his lower shoulders; his tail is rough but medium-length and usually tangled. He has piercing yellow eyes, an aggressive aura, and matte black hooves, horns, and spikes. The only jewelry he wears are golden bands around his arms and forelegs, plus a gold bull-style nosering. He's normally seen charging into a fight. ^_^;;
Personality: Definitely not very bright. I mean, he's not a dunce, but ... he misses a lot. However, he makes up for intelligence with spades of aggression and fight-knowledge. Despite his youth, he can kick any grey's tail in a fair battle. Honesty is the name of the game, though, and Degeh is susceptible to deceit and dirty tricks... which are usually avenged violently. Degeh does have common sense... he just rarely uses it. XE! He's the silent one of the core group, will obey Matriarch (his aunt, as a matter of fact) without hesitation, and usually plays the role of grunt. His cousin is gold male Rifu.

Name: Era
Gender: male
Age: young adult
Description: A red who stands proudly at 6.5' at the shoulder, Era is drop-dead gorgeous. With beautiful russet fur and red-gold mane and tail that stream out behind him in long, silky tendrils, Era's speed cannot be matched by anyone but an exceptional Katha racer. Toned and graceful, he moves swiftly and usually without much warning; gold-eyed and with equally golden hooves, horns, and spikes, Era is the local bishi. His jewelry consists of several gold hoop earrings and gold bands just above all six hooves.
Personality: Insanely arrogant... eh-heh. Highly intelligent and a devil at playing mind-games and riddles, Era knows every Khraenian tongue in existence... fluently. Though cocky and haughty to almost everyone, to those of the core he's a bit more relaxed and good-naturedly witty, and to Matriarch he's simply respectful and somewhat amused. Era loves fighting, loves challenges, and generally does everything with passion and beauty.

Name: Lifowa
Gender: female
Age: adult
Description: A black, Lifowa is the smallest of the core group at 4.5' at the shoulder. She has glossy ebony fur, is rather petite and well-groomed, and also has matte black hooves, horns, and spikes as well as brilliant cerulean eyes. Like most blacks, she specializes in agility and simply cannot be caught... as her speed is also excellent. Unlike the others, she wears no jewelry and prefers her simple blackness to any accent on her fur. She wears her curly, silky mane and tail medium-length and loose.
Personality: Much like her younger brother Era, Lifowa is arrogant and self-assured... though she's not much for bragging. There's just something in her gaze and the way she moves -- you can tell that she's better than you. She doesn't need to say anything. =O,x= Lifowa is a bit calmer than her brother but can get hyper, so to speak, and despite her elegance (and eloquence) sometimes can play normally... especially with her close friend, brown male Otonan.

Gender: Male
Age: young adult
Description: Taller then the average gold, Rifu stands at a shining 5 feet at the shoulder, a fact which he proudly displays. His hooves, antlers, and spikes are all a pale cream coloration... but he livens them up with his obbsession with copper. Copper bands, copper rings... Copper everything! His thin and trimmed gold mane is braided with copper ribbon, his legs banded with copper. He wears a copper necklace with his lucky copper coin! He shines... and he jingles! Peridot eyes being the only offset to this redness... but they shine just as much.
Personality: Rifu is quite the ladies man... with a touch of arrogance towards his... (supposedly) good looks, and a prank up his non-existant sleeves. He's likely a bit annoying.. but most who know him come to love him anyway. Oh yes... he's undeniably hyper. And if you ever see this beast tired? Know that some other crett likely died of exaustion...

Height at the Shoulder: Depends on the breed. Greens are 7'-8', greys are 5.5'-'7, browns are 6'-7.5', reds are 5'-7', blacks are 4'-6', and golds are 4'-5'.

Coloration: 'Pends on the breed. Greens range from whitish green all the way down to blackish green; greys are anywhere from nearly-white to deep shadow-grey, silver included; browns go from pale cream to deep rich chocolate; reds range from pale red-gold to a deep burnt red; blacks are black, sometimes with undertones of blue or purple or dark grey; golds are from pale yellow all the way to burnished gold. Eyes can be any hue; keratin (horns, hooves, and spikes) tends to be metallic or earth colors; hoofblades are silver or pale gold. The manes tend to be a darker or lighter shade of their fur color, and often the fur will be marked with lighter/darker markings -- dappling, mottling, blazes, socks, etc.

Temperament: Varies... but again, it depends on the breed. Greens tend to be calm and strong, stable and almost always the leaders; greys are aggressive and not the brightest star in the sky; browns are noble and kind, though sometimes distant; reds are highly intelligent and social, loving mind-games and riddles; blacks are perceptive and sometimes arrogant; golds are fun-loving but sometimes timid. Again, this varies immensely depending on the individual in question. Kathas in general are social beasts, living in prides that can become quite large as families are added. They have one leader, called Matriarch if female and Patriarch if male. A 'core' will be present if the herd is large enough, since the leader is almost always a green; the core consists of five individuals, one of each breed (excluding green of course) who will act as a council to the leader, representing their breeds' interests.

Description: Kathas are six-legged, omnivorous equines. Their lower halves, heads, and necks are quite Arabian-esque, sleek-furred and sculpted. As they can go on all sixes or 'rear up' to lock their spine into a vaguely 'taur-ish stance, Kathas are quite adaptable creatures. Their 'lower halves' are almost entirely equine, with a little added flexibility; their tails are long and lean, covered in horse-style hair and with a line of long, sharp-tipped spines running from tail-base to tailtip, mostly hidden by said hair. These spikes secrete a mild poison; it'll kill just about anything smaller than a small Katha but is a mere tranquilizer to bigger beasts. Their 'upper halves' are a strange mix of equine and biped, not anthroish but built so that running six-legged is quite possible. Their 'arms' (for lack of a better term) are equine but jointed like a humans', ending in cloven hooves. Between the two hoof 'toes' is a retractable, claw-shaped blade that can stab downwards. The head is undeniably Arabian, though replacing flat horseteeth is a set of fangs and sharp teeth that is quite feline. They have two horns, the shapes of which vary with each breed, and large feline eyes; a mane runs from between their ears down to their middle legs (forelegs), where it spreads out across those shoulders. Kathas, as they have no hands nor prehensile tails, have developed a mild form of telekinesis instead. TK, as they call it, is not easy to use and does take concentration and training, and it isn't very strong; however, as a domestic 'tool' it's quite useful. (TK is never used in battle.) Kathas live very long, progressing into adulthood in their early 40s and becoming elders once they pass 170; they can live up to 200 years. Young Kathas are called foals; young males are colts and young females are fillies.

Breeds: Kathas come in six distinct breeds, the colors, heights, and temperaments of which have already been discussed. Each breed varies in ability and build as well. Greens are the largest and thus the strongest, but they're also the slowest and undeniably the most enduring. They have ram-style horns, thick spikes, large but dullish hoofblades, and their manes and tails are full and usually kept long. Greys are as muscular as greens but shorter; they have fair speed and a total lack of agility but immense strength and excellent endurance. They have bull-style horns, short and heavy spikes, serrated hoofblades, and visible fangs; their manes and tails are bristly and coarse, often kept short. Browns are tall and well-built, muscular but also graceful. They're quite strong, rather fast, and with decent endurance and agility, are the medium Katha breed; their specialty are the senses, as they have the keenest sight, smell, and hearing of any breed. They have deer-like horns (that aren't shed), only sharper and a bit stronger, long spikes, average hoofblades (curving and sharp), and visible fangs; their manes and tails are textured and usually kept medium-length. Reds are toned and usually lean and graceful, specializing in speed -- they're the fastest breed. They have slender, sharp spikes, curving hoofblades, and sharp-tipped antelope horns; their manes and tails are silky and almost always kept long. Blacks are small and somewhat weak, though they make up for it with their insane agility and flexibility (they can climb trees =O,O=), and their speed is also usually excellent... though they lack in endurance. They have small, thin spikes, straight and slender horns, a very curved and razor-sharp hoofblade, and visible fangs; their manes and tails are very fine and usually kept short. Golds are the smallest and thus the weakest of the breeds, though their agility and speed is often comparable to those of blacks and reds respectively. Their spikes are slender and medium-length, their horns are thin and razor-sharp but somewhat fragile, and their hoofblades are thin but insanely sharp; their manes and tails are fine, like those of blacks, but are usually kept long.
