Subject: First time posting, not sure if this is the Right Board, either.

Well Now, this is interesting.

For some months now, I've been in heated debates with Monarchist over the whole, Head of State, issue. Recently, I've started posting over the CCR (Citizens for a Canadian Republic) Message Board, and trying to get a feel for what the Republican Side, here in Canada is, all about. While I PASSIONATELY, VERY PASSIONATELY, feel it's time for Canada to have it's OWN, CANADIAN BORN, RESIDING & ELECTED Head of State, and I do feel that the Power of the State should be in the hands of the Masses of Ordinary Citizens, a very Republican Sentiment but also, I feel, plain common sense, too; I'm not sure if I'm ready to classify myself as a Republican, in the strictest sense, just yet. I too, have chosen to take the Middle of the Road Approach, to this whole issue.

If I where to classify myself as anything, at this point, it would be, a sort of, Sydo Monarchist, and indeed, I have been trying for about a year now, to pitch, what I call, a THIRD OPTION, which to Died Hard Monarchist, and Died Hard Republicans, seems to be NO Option, at all because, they have BOTH decided to go to Extremes, over this, and you are quite right, though NEITHER of them will admit it about the other, BOTH Sides, make very good points, at various times.

In a statement made by a Monarchist, a while back, the observation was made that Canada ALREADY is a Republic in everything but, Name Only, {{and the fact that we do not have an Elected Canadian, Head of State (my part) }}. If this is the case, I don't really see a need for a Name Change. Why not STAY a Dominion that FUNCTIONS as a Republic? I Advocate that to PRESERVE, Canadian Uniqueness. Also, why change the Title of Governor General, just make sure it is an ELECTED, and SUPREME Post, in the land.

I feel that if we Reclassify Ourselves as a Republic, with a President as Head of State, we will be just like all the Other Republics, around the World, or in time, we will EVOLVE, to be just like them, particularly, our neighbor to the south, which to me, today, represents a Prime Example of a FAILED, Republic.

If I'm {{FOR}} Anything, it's Canadian UNITY, SOVEREIGNTY, {{AND}} UNIQUENESS. I do not understand why this has to be an Either/Or Proposition, to me this smacks of a Great LACK of Creativity. I'm also {{FOR}} Canadian Strength. Hundreds of years of Colonial BRAINWASHING, and Todays Spineless, Visionless, Politicians/Bureaucrats have Throughly Robed Canada of any TRUE & REAL Greatness She Could have Had also, Strength. But, it is NEVER Too Late.

I have not shared My Third Option, over the CCR Message Board, yet. I've shared it with some Died Hard Windsor Fans, and they Shot it to blazes yet, I feel it has MORE Merit than, either camp will admit.

I want something that will SET PEOPLE ON FIRE, in Passionate Fervor for Canada. I'm not sure a Mediocre Republic, in the way the Republicans Describe it, will do that. Also, they have yet to state, EXACTLY, What Type of Republic, they envision. This is VERY Important to me, and I'm sure, when the time comes, Millions More Canadians, as well.

Maybe this is the Board & Group for my ideas, maybe not. Maybe somebody can reply to this post, and explain to me EXACTLY What you are about. Also, if you wish, you can e-mail me at: whitetide84tall@yahoo.com
