Subject: uniform cloth type- Help!

My GGG was Capt. J. Agustus Howze, Co. D,14th Texas Cav. Hood's Division, out of Henderson,Rusk Co., Texas.
I am having lots of difficulty finding info about this regiment. I know someone in the 37th can help or advise.
I also have a colored-in photo of him in uniform that is so colored over as to be totally usless for any attempt to properly identify any aspects of the uniform.
I want to have made a copy of the uniform, and have a taylor friend who is willing. We have identified the coat type and have ordered a pattern.It is a double breasted frock,but I am not sure what wool would most likely be correct. Capt. Gus served from Nov.'61 until June '65, but I think the uniform I am trying to duplicate dates from Mid to late '62 or early '63. Any suggestions willbe greatly appreciated.

Please let me know what you find out.I also have a realitive in the 14th Texas Cav. Co.F Johnson's Brig.Circa 1862- 1865. Thanks
