Subject: GILN18 on PIC16F84 with Canton 4.2: will do ??

I built the 4.2 and programmed the PIC16F84A-04
with giln18. The PIC did not work at all, although
the rest of the circuitry is OK. I could not find
the 1N5272 diode so I'm trying similars.
Also tried another crystal.

PS. i know the /04 Pic is rated for 4MHz but it's
the only one i could find here, and someone said
it's OK to run at 20MHz. Is that so ?
