No. Once the #define is removed, you can run the code as is. The code will see the "ifdef" instruction and skip sending the test pulses since RA3_test_bit is no longer defined.

If you really want to clean the code up, then you can replace all of the RA3_test_bit related instructions. Since you still have to get the code working, I'd just leave those alone - don't want to introduce any timing errors. After the code is working, then you can go back and clean it up.
