I do not understand Spanish! So here is the information in English!

"...In Venezuela, they use what is called a Star model, it is also called a Pdip 8600 Star, some models are SA8610 Star-02. In the United States, and UK, there are also 8600x, 8610x, 8612x, 8616, 8618, etc. The Star models have a 16 pin Eeprom chip with On Screen Display menu, and is a non-volatile memory chip, the PCB is mounted vertically, and is marked part # 548499B1F24V...." The boxes in the USA have a 20 pin SMD chip, instead of the 16 pin dip chip.

Replacing this chip, if it is in full service mode, into a dead box, will make the dead box come alive, and it will then have the same serial number and ESN number of the full service box. So it is the target.....

Well, about that chip, it's not an EEprom. It is a microprocessor chip, because they use a clock signal on one pin. That is: I rented a box with full PPV channels, and removed this chip from the unit, and then put it into the other shutdown box and it runs perfectly...and with same serial number for the original box!!!

The conclusion is: This chip has the serial number, ppv authorizations, remote control functions and more. I have now reduced the clock freq to read and I can see data between this microprocessor and the rest of the board. Of course this microprocessor has an internal EEprom to save the configurations.

This chip, marked 548499 chip, it is actually a Motorola "SC24 REV 2 750 Mhz" in the SA part list. Its full chip model name is 68HC05SC24. It contains all the secrets. No one, that I know of, has, so far, been able to crack this secret chip. There is virtually no information in the internet on this chip. It is also used in the bank cards.
