Subject: SA8610x Rapid Random Inversion / privacy audio question

Hi. I've just begun researching video descrambling over the last couple weeks so please forgive me if I seem to be asking a stupid question. I live in the Boston area where my cable company (AT&T Broadband) uses the Scientific Atlanta 8610x cable box. I recently tried a Matrix box which claimed to support RRI on the 8610x, but it didn't at all. Fortunately, I sent it back and the company says they're going to refund my money. We'll see.

OK, so after some google searching this list appears to be the only forum where I've found technical information and real specs on building a descrambler circut. I've done plenty of homebrew electronics and soldering, so with a PCB board layout and a parts list I feel pretty comfortable making one myself. However, I'd like to know if the instructions in question will support my cable system before I embark on the project. Also, I'd like to know why no one seems to support RRI on the SA8610x. Information about decoding privacy audio would also be of help.

Thanks...
