Hey Jlam,

Using the 16F84A, Phil recommends doing the following mod to the oscillator circuit:

1. Add a 1M resistor across the XTAL
2. Change C3 from 120 pF to 15 pF
3. Change R1 from 10K to a jumper
4. Change R2 from 10K to 8.2K

As for Zenith code, I'll have to look. I know one of the older codes worked with Zenith but I don't think it was ever modified for the 16F84A. When I find the code, I'll do the 16F84A mods and send it to you.

In the meantime, you can try Dan's GILN18 code from Tom's page (http://www.linkline.com/personal/msaavedra/3Chip/3chipinfo.html) or Phil's REV7T1D2 code from Canton's page (http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Monitor/1802/Canton42_decoder.html).

Regarding the connector, you cannot connect the RF coaxial cable directly to the board. The 3Chip is a baseband board - the board uses the IF signal from a converter or VCR. You don't need to use the RCA connector but you must use the IF signal coming out of a converter/vcr. I built the board with the RCA jack because I was doing a lot of experimenting and it was easier use the board externally.

Late!
