I think the 16x84 has a serial type programming algorithm and the 16C5x's are parallel so the simple Ludipipo or JDM type may not be suitable. The P16PRO handles both (and many others) and is easy to build but has problems with the parallel port on some PC's - www.picallw.com. IC-Prog does both - hardware details on the site www.ic-prog.com
