also a not from me is that I found that instead of shorting to W502 you can use pin 17 of the tocom chip.
I have boxes I have reset 30+ times so dont think you are going to kill it soon and especialy with the diode mod it aint gonna die any time soon at all.

also wanting to know how many People have got Potters Mod Finished and installed and working
