Please help if anyone can:

I am a high school student in Albuquerque, New Mexico and I am currently doing a project on lighting effects in film and photography... However I am not very educated in the subject, and know little about it. I direct and write short films(hoping to make a career someday), but I've never really used any special lighting... So any information or places you may be able to direct me towards would be greatly appreciated.

Also, any information or tips for no-budget lighting that can be done without much money or special equipment would help me to no end.

Thank you for any help.
