My biggest concern would be the distance between home and the pitching mound. Whether your comfortable with your bat swing or not, the timing issue and the way you pick up the pitched ball will be different between Baseball and Softball.

Some players can adjust quickly, while others could spend half a season adapting back to Softball pitching after having watched overhand pitching for a season. Also, you won't see any rise balls in Baseball.

Don't you have some decent Women's Fastpitch leagues in your area? Usually find some nice (already in College) pitchers in such leagues, and travel in usually minimal.

My two cents is that I would rather see you play Softball, as long as you can find a league with decent pitching.

Regards,
Tom
