Subject: I'm not sure that my cocketiels are what I thought.
In reply to: MELONIE 's message, "Re: question about cocketiels" on 07:53:54 04/24/04 Sat

This is really weird but I think my male cocketiel maybe female and my female cocketiel maybe male.
I bought a cocketiel 18 months ago and they told me it was a hen coz she had yellow and black stripes on the underside her tail she grow to a good size, probably the size of a male and is quite a good whistler, she is grey with a yellow head. We got another one about a year ago and this one was a hand reared male we were told he was a male because of the yellow spots on his white feathers, he is white and yellow but very quiet and doesn't whistle a great deal and when he does he is not as loud as the other one. they had been living with a cheeky budgie that we have had for a year but we got him a girlfriend and I have just moved the cocketiels out of their old avery into a temporary cage as their new bigger avery is arriving on Sunday and I saw the grey one, which is ment to be a girl, mating with the white one, that is supposed to be a boy but the grey on was on top of the other one. The grey one has always been the bigger more dominent bird could it be that she is just displaying some sort of dominant behavior or is she the male and the other the female. I would be really glad if you can help me with this, thanks.
