Subject: Single Egg

I have two cockatiel. I do not know what sex they are. I have not seen them even attempt to mate. One has orange cheeks and the other is very noisy. One of them laid a single egg in the bottom of the cage. We did not know what to do. I put a cuddle sack in the cage with the egg in it and the egg was pushed out. No further eggs have appeared. Quite often, for a while, the noicy bird would make these fully movements as though to rub its bottom tail end on the perch but yet did not tough the perch. We are not sure what it was doing. Can someone help? I was told by the pet store that a noisy bird can very likely be the male but then again the one with the orange cheeks can be the male. Any suggestions would certainly be helpful.
