Subject: Whistling Tunes

I've heard that tiels can learn to talk, however have less clarity than large parrots and fewer words. I have a 2 yr. old tiel who just loves to whistle tunes. His name is Bay. He whistles all of "Andy Griffith Theme Song" from Mayberry RFD. He whistles "Low Rider" and also "General Lee"...He sometimes tries "Green Acres", and has whistled a few of his own tunes. Bay does "chirp" Hello and Thank You, but as I have said...not with great clarity. Hope this helped. I've been told that if you want them to be talkers, don't rely so heavily on the whistling because they are usually one or the other. Oh yes, and Bay also does the familure "wolf whistle" and the calling whistle.
