Subject: O Global Beauties em defesa de Joseane

00:25:14 01/25/03 Sat

People have been writing to GB asking our opinion on this whole controversy. Here it is:

Miss Brazil is being stoned by fans, beauty queens, and even other participants in the BB house. Smoking, kissing on the 4th day, not taking her duties as Miss Brazil seriously, are all considered "mortal sins" for a beauty queen.

The question is: who are these people to cast a first stone?

Does it mean that all of us, as human beings, have the right to say bad words, to feel attracted to someone, to kiss, to smoke, to get tired, to complain, even to go to the bathroom, but a beauty queen doesn't? After all, are beauty queens some sort of divinities, goddesses who cannot make any mistakes so that pageant fans won't freak out and lose a good night of sleep??

Joseane's participation in BBB brings out the human nature of a "MISS", it ends with the false myth that the "most beautiful women in the world" are perfect, flawless non-stop smiling and waving creatures who do nothing but fighting for world peace and praising for the children of the world.

And thank God for that! Maybe from now on people, especially women, will be able look at beauty candidates as real women, made of flesh and blood, people they can relate to.

For the pageant organizers around the world, pay attention to this: there is no magical formula for pageant redefinition. You will redefine your pageants for "today" over and over again, until the day you realize that the secret is simply to allow them to be who they are, and show it to the world, shamelessly. Why are "reality shows" so popular on tv around the globe?

Remember, beauty queens are beautiful, which is great, but they are also human. Keep being yourself Joseane, you are doing just fine!
