I had a long conversation with Kirby last night....

During the incident in the channel last night with GB, Kirby and Tass I tried to diffuse the situation by suggesting to Kirby and GB that the security team would deal with the problem. I told Kirby that one of the Bots had already messaged me about the problem and that the bot and I would file a report. Kirby wanted to "Vent" to me in a private channel so I agreed to join him.

I let kirby retell his story and explain his side. His memory is not really good, but that is ok, it helped me some. He recalls cursing in the channel before he was a squire, and once while on extended membership and says he knows better, his language during our talk did not show me that he could refrain but if I can maybe he can as well.

He also remembered the incident with Gimpy, Print Crazy and myself where he sold all the items in town for personal gain and his argument with Gimpy. He only remembered Gimpy and Print and two other POLers in the game, he must have forgotten that I was there also. In any case he thinks he was framed by gimpy and that the issue report only showed his text. I explained to him that the security team received a number of issue reports and that the screenshots were of the whole message screen, so it was unlikely that he was framed.

Kirby likes to feel the victim, but also wants to see other punished. He frequently told me that Both Gimpy and Tass were much worse than he was and we should kick them out.

I told him that I felt he might make a good member of POL if he were to dedicate himself towards meeting the goals of POL, I suggested he try and get some games in with Tom, Print, Gedon, or myself to observe how we interact. I was frank with him and I told him that his attitude needs to be cleaned up some before he would be considered again for POL membership.

I tried to make my message clear to him "You need to take care of yourself and let the others take care of themselves. You are the only one who can control what you say and how you act, you can not control or change how others act or what they say." I suggested that he contact Print, Gabe, Tom or myself, if Tass or gimpy gave him any trouble in the channel and we will handle it.

Kirby also claimed that he was not to blame for the rule violations because the site was down and he could not read the rules. I asked him if he checked the box on the application that said he had read the rules. He said yes "everyone checks those boxes" I told him that when he gets older and can be liable for damages he needs to read that text very carefully before he signs his name to anything. I told him that people have been ruined financially for not reading that text carefully.

One thing that Kirby would not let go of was his belief that Tass is much worse than he is and that Tass is rude. He followed that statement up with "Tass is an idiot..." and "I will squelch him..." I told him that that kind of attitude is not going to help him get back into POL. I said that he does not need to like everyone, but that pointing fingers and disparaging someone are not mature ways to handle oneself. I don't think that got through to him. He is thick headed and strong willed.

This is already longer than I thought it would be, long story short, Kirby is not willing to admit that he was wrong and wants to point blame at others rather than on himself. He likes to compare himself to other POL members without all the details. He was surprised to find out that Gimpy had be repremanded for his behavior in the game.
