*sitting in the window seat in my room watching the snow fall..hearing a loose board in the hall squeak..thinking one of the girls must be sneaking about..slips from the window moving to the door opening it just enough to see Alex going downstairs..grins knowing what he is doing..waits for long minutes till I hear footsteps on the stairs to close the door..opening it only after I hear the squeak of the loose board knowing he has returned to his room..moving over to where I have my own gifts hidden in a big chest with the false bottom..gathering them all in my arms checking to make sure I have them all before moving back across the room and out the door to place them under the tree*
