Kuinka moni ihminen pystyisi elämään ilman televisiota, niin kuin muinainen ruotsinopettajani.(Kaikkea hyvää vaan Viltsulle.) Ja oletetaan, että kysymys olisi vapaaehtoisesta valinnasta, ei esim. satelliittien joukkotuhosta tms.
Tässä mietittyäni olen tullut siihen tulokseen, että oikeastaan en tarvitsisi sellaista. Koska jos maksimissaan kerran kuussa tulee joku elokuva, mitä ei ole nähnyt, niin mitä sillä sitten tekee. Ja maailmassa ei taida sellaista sarjaa olla tehty, joka saisi jakamattoman huomioni. Onhan niitäkin, joita on jaksanut katsoa, mutta jos on ollut jotain parempaa tekemistä, niin ei epäilystäkään, mikä sai väistyä.
Ehkä jäisin juuri niitä elokuvia, uutisia ja urheilua kaipaamaan. Mutta kuten jo sanottu, helmiä löytyy paskan seasta niin harvoin, että sitä jaksaisi suodattaa. Saatteksi pistän erään runon, jonka Roald Dahl on kirjoittanut. Hyvin samoilla linjoilla liikutaan.

HIS BRAIN BECOMES AS SOFT AS CHEESE!
HIS POWERS OF THINKING RUST AND FREEZE!
HE CANNOT THINK – HE ONLY SEES!

“But if we take the set away,
What shall we do to entertain
Our darling children! Please explain!”
We’ll answer this by asking you,
“What used the darling ones to do?
How used they keep themselves contented
Before this monster was invented?”
