This is a story about a man by the name of Nahris Xalis. His days were already many and
full. He was a retired soldier, and lived peacefully with his wife and daughter. But war
doesn’t rest, and just before his first year of marriage two great rulers of the land took up
arms against each other. Nahris’s wife was young and strong still, and full of conviction
and loyalty. So she left to fight in this new conflict asking Nahris to take care of their
daughter. One night, several months into the war Nahris was wakened when he dreamed
that his vibrant wife was slain on the field of combat in a far away land. As he woke his
daughter was before him and came to comfort him. She was wise for her age and new
many things, and thought she grieved for her mother she knew that Nahris would soon go
back to the battlefield. But before he did she made him promise to send word to the
rulers of the land telling them of the true loss war brought them, and it went something
like this...

I can’t hear you scream while sleeping
The tears don’t cry but linger lost grieving
How can the mind forget what won’t fade
Scares left behind by torn night shades

There’s no escape, nor a suddle slumber
A painful distance to slow heart’s thunder
So please come back at morning’s end
Even for only a moment to go back again

Because what you thought I knew truly
Wishing on hopes few truths blew coldly
Visit my sleepless dreams death’s riddle
Wish me back as I beg your life rekindle

You swayed eyes a promise that deterred
Lies ever soft are stained by truth returned
Hallowed love lured by this hate harbored
Hate’s retort released on my haven ordered

This war waged willing your end onward
Forward must I march respite empowered
So please come back by mornings end
Even for just a moment to go back again.

By the time it reached both rulers Nahris has also fallen on the battlefield. It was then
that both rulers agreed to end the terrible war. Sadly this would not be the last time the
little girl would bring peace to the lands.
