Quickly I succumb to the night
The darkness holding and caressing me
A soft blanket wrapping me tight
A powerful presence that guides me
Falling stars tracing glittering streaks of tears
I am astonished at the violence of their death
The moon watching over the vastness of space
As the universe exhales its final breath
Glimmering patterns made of far away stars
Zodiacal patrons filling the night
Watching me from way upon high
Blessing me with their wonderful light
A completely random arrangement of worlds
Culminates in this luminescent display
Powerful rays of light that travel from afar
And sadly disappear with the break of day
Slowly the sun crests over the edge of the earth
Bathing me in the warmth of its glow
The bringer of life brings it power to bear
To create all the things that we know
Maybe it’s not that I only love the night
In its peaceful and calm reassurance
Let us see what wonders the day brings
(Yawn) if I have that much endurance
