His hands were coarse, large hands, rough, dry
his face showed some wear
Time, and hard work would sum up his life
sizeing him up as a family man
at times it seems he wanted to appear gruff and hard
making his voice deeper when scholding the children
They could see through him, they did not waver
then he would see they knew, that those big strong hands
only held love, those hands went to work every day
they were the same hands that brought home the bacon
that picked the them up and swing them high
that tucked them in at night
this hard working man has watched his children grow into
hard working young men
His grandaughter adores him, she laughs when he says no no
then he laughs too
she brings him his shoes and takes his big strong hand in hers..and leads him to the door...I watch as he picks her up to put her in her red flyer wagon, she points to the path and pulls her along and sings Old McDonald had a farm, while she claps her hands and sings E-I-E-I-O....
This is a sweet site...the two of them..soon I join in the fun..And hold hands with my wonderful husband...and grandughter...Nothing is sweeter than this...
