Fair Lady Lorian
Stephen A. Cooper
October 24, 2001
On lonely mountain she will stand,
Fragile as her crystal-laden land,
To guard her kingdom from his hand,
Which brings the darkness beneath the sand.
Daughter of King and wife of Knight,
Her beauty and strength are one for sight,
While the blade she yields slays his might,
For shadows give his dominion flight.
Her blade now stained with his evil blood,
But with strength removed there comes a thud,
Strength almost gone she lays in mud,
While she awaits the approaching flood.
Tears drive their way from eye to ground,
With one last breath she made a slight sound,
That was heard from lands never found,
But from the woods came a roaring pound.
The beat of a drum long past its due,
While out of the woods Gladimere flew,
To respond to her sound she knew,
And off they rode for all that is true.
Her tale is known both far and wide,
Both fierce and strong her lover but cried,
For ages and leagues he hath sighed,
For fair Lady Lorian hath died.
