Subject: combining glut with an MFC dll

hi everyone, i'm writing a dll with mfc that i hope can be linked with a glut application and read back information on the opengl state, which will allow users to edit parts of the state through a visual interface.

i'm having problems with certain mfc things not running because of the way the message loop of glut is designed. the glut program calls glutMainLoop() and my mfc dialog box receives most of the events but i am unable to add accelerators for keyboard shortcuts, for example, because it seems that i cannot call PreTranslateMessage().

does anyone have any experience interfacing glut with mfc and now how can one get around these windows message problems? i also have a problem with my toolbars not updating when state changes. for example, WM_IDLEUPDATECMDUI is never called, even in my main dialog box.

i would like to come up with a solution which does not require a change to glut. ideally, my dll would work independently of the user app, so the user should not have to change their version of glut in order to work with my code.

can anyone help?

-kel
