openGL redbook kannste sogar downloaden, die alte version jedenfalls. darin wird der ganze opengl stuff recht detailliert erklärt. es wird dabei aber nicht auf windows oder sonst irgendwelche platform abhängigen details eingegangen. da der ganze windows kram recht doof ist würde ich an deiner stelle sdl mit opengl kombinieren...das macht vieles einfacher. das redbook checkst du meiner meinung nach aber auch nur dann wenn du in sachen c programmierung schon einige ahnung hast
