Hey everyone, did you know that season 1 of Tripping the Rift was recently released. If you’re not very familiar with the show, check out the synopsis..
Tripping the Rift is the continuing comic saga of five misfits who live, work and play on the starship Jupiter 42, which is controlled by a neurotic A.I. known as Spaceship Bob. Bob's neuroses are kept in check by the verbally abusive pilot T'Nuk, and the ship's inner workings are tended by Gus, the depressive robotic chief engineer. No one's really sure what job, if any, is performed by teen slacker Whip, but everyone knows what kinds of jobs sexy android Six specializes in. The captain, a walking purple blob of rancor named Chode, hates his crew and they hate him back, but they have bigger problems to worry about — namely, the corporate-minded Dark Clowns, who are bent on dominating the galaxy, and the hopelessly conformist Confederation, which will stop at nothing to bring our bumbling antiheroes to injustice. Be Sure to pick it up in stores now, you wont regret it.

>I found this on a post board: its so simple it has to
>work if you

>instructions, go for it, I am!!!!!
>
>Make 800,000 dollars in just a few months!!!
>Dear Friends: Greetings: I am a retired attorney. A
>few years ago a
>man came to
>me with a letter. He asked me to verify the fact that
>this was legal
>to do. I
>told him I would review it and get back to him. When I
>first read the

>client brought me, I thought it was some
>"off-the-wall" idea to make
>money. A week and a half later we met in my office to
>discuss the
>issue. I told
>him the letter he originally brought me was not 100%
>legal. My client
>then asked
>me to alter it to make it perfectly legal. I asked him
>to make one
>small change
>in the letter. I was still curious about the letter,
>so he explained
>to me how
>it works. I thought it seemed like a long shot, so I
>decided against
>participating. But before my client left, I asked him
>to keep me
>updated on his
>results. About two months later, he called me to tell
>me he had
>received over
>$800,000 in cash. I didn't believe him, so he asked me
>to try this
>idea
>and find out for myself. I thought about it for a
>couple of days and
>decided I
>really didn't have anything to lose, so I asked him
>for a copy of the

>GUARANTEED! Keep what you are doing to yourself for

Hello all.

I'm hoping to open a new video store. I'm anxious to offer world, indie & classic DVDs, but I need help determining who the audience for these films is (other than myself of course). I'd be grateful to those of you willing to help me out by taking a survey I've prepared. You can get to it by following this link:

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=40125135887

If anyone knows of other resources where I could learn WHO rents/watches foreign and indie films, please let me know.

And forgive me if this is considered spam; I'm simply looking for help.

Thanks!

I have watched almost all of Mel's movies and I think he is a great actor , however this movie did not live up to my exspatations . It was a good movie but not as good as I thought it would be . The comercials showed all of the good parts so their really wasn't any good parts left in the show . This movie does have some suggestive thoughts thrown about but not in a crude manner . I let my kids watch it .

Subject: Moulin Rouge (2001)

Title: Moulin Rouge (2001)
Directed by: Baz Luhrmann
Written by: Baz Luhrmann & Craig Pearce

Cast: Nicole Kidman (Satine), Ewan McGregor (Christian), Jim Broadbent (Harold Zidler), John Leguizamo (Toulouse-Lautrec), Richard Roxburgh (The Duke of Monmartre), and Kylie Minogue (The Green Fairy)

Genre(s): Musical / Drama / Romance / Comedy
MPAA: Rated PG-13 for thematic elements and sexual content
Running Time: 128 minutes
Letter Grade: A+

Synopsis: Set in Paris, circa 1900, Christian (Ewan McGregor) is a penniless writer who has just arrived in the town of Monmartre, home of the infamous Moulin Rouge nightclub. Christian ends up meeting a gorgeous courtesan named Satine (Nicole Kidman). At first mistaking him for a wealthy duke, Satine falls instantly in love with Christian, and vice versa, much to the dismay of the real duke (Richard Roxburgh), who has not only just staked a claim in Moulin Rouge, but has gotten the club's owner, Harold Zidler (Jim Broadbent), to sign an agreement giving him "exclusive rights" to Satine. And although Christian and Satine do not yet know it, Fate has already doomed them.

My Review: I shall start with my review by making a bold statement: "Moulin Rouge" is the most incredible movie I have ever seen. Not only does director Baz Luhrmann and art director Catherine Martin use fabulous camera tricks and wonderful images to dazzle the audience, but this film has the power to show all the what cinema can do. Telling an old-fashioned story using modern techniques is very rare, if almost unheard of. That is why "Moulin Rouge" is so special.

The story is simple, yet powerful. In 19th century Paris, Christian, a struggling writer, falls in love with Satine, an ill-fated courtesan who has already sold herself to a ruthless duke. Luhrmann and writer Craig Pierce have brought so much to a little story, especially the effective and poignant dialogue. There is so much enjoyment and inspiration to observe in this motion picture that it is so difficult not to get swept up in it.

Academy Award nominee Nicole Kidman ("The Others") gives one of the best performances of the year as Satine, a young lady who has always believed she was only worth what someone would pay for her. Not only does Kidman display a full range of credible emotions, but she also sings beautifully. Ewan McGregor (who achieved iconic status as Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi in "Star Wars, Episode 1: The Phantom Menace") also turns in a fantastic performance as Christian. He, too, is a great singer. Kidman and McGregor's soaring love song, "Come What May", is a highlight. Academy Award winner Jim Broadbent ("Iris", "Bridget Jones's Diary") is great as the larger-than-life manager of the nightclub, Harold Zidler. John Leguizamo ("Spawn") is hilarious as real-life actor/artist/midget, Toulouse-Lautrec. The underrated Richard Roxburgh is also entertaining as the villian, The Duke. Roxburgh's character goes from being a naïve and obsessive man to a monster frighteningly well.

Although the story is set one hundred years ago, the film has the soundtrack of a modern movie, with hit songs like "Lady Marmalade" (performed by Lil Kim, Mya, Pink, and Christina Aguilera), Elton John's "Your Song" , Madonna's "Like a Virgin" & "Material Girl", Nirvana's "Teen Spirit" , David Bowie's "Heroes" & "Nature Boy", Marilyn Munroe's "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend", The Beatles' "All You Need Is Love", and Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" . The cast performs all of the songs.

Besides the performances and beautiful story, what makes this movie work is the entire production design. The costumes, set pieces, and special effects must be seen to believe. Throughout the film, the camera swoops all over Paris, zooming in and out of scenes, etc. This is not only done to maintain the interest of the audience, but to help create an eye-popping, 360-degree world.

In conclusion, I believe that "Moulin Rouge" is not only a superb film on all levels, but a kaleidoscope of sheer brilliance, a work of true passion, and a sparkling diamond of the cinematic world! It is also my pick for the best movie of 2001.
