Subject: Homeless in Baton Rouge.

Hello, and Happy late Thanksgiving to everyone at UCMI. My name is Michael Bates and I have been ordained since Jan. 2001. I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I have not been able to work in ministry much in last 4 years because of a secular job where I worked 80+ hours a week. I am no longer there with that company and I have been asking God to use me as I continue to seek HIS will in my life.

For this past week through quiet time and prayer with the Lord I have felt God tugging at my heart for the homeless and low income families in my city. Baton Rouge has around 400,000 people post Hurricane Katrina. A lot of people have moved on but there are still a lot of homeless people here and I have personally seen a lot of poverty in certian areas in this city. I want to be able to help either serving in food kitchens (there are several here), in homeless shelters, and provide ministrial care to places that God may send me. There are a lot of entities in this city that prey on and take advantage of the homeless. I DONT WANT TO BE ONE OF THEM. Please UCMI please pray for me ask I seek God's will in this effort. I want to be humble and show God's love to the unfortunate in my city. This is a overwhelming effort that one man can't do alone but we serve a Risen Lord that has the power who can.

All that I am ask from UCMI is prayer for the following:
1. that Christ will work through me
2. that Christ will use me
3. to have a humble spirit
4. to show the love of Christ
5. not get ahead of God.
